Our Mission

The Utah Midwives Organization (UMO) is a non-profit organization created by midwives, for midwives. Our mission is to preserve the unique legacy of Utah midwifery, invest in learning, build a culture of community, and promote professional relationships of trust and respect. The UMO provides unique opportunities for members to engage in peer reviews, annual conferences, and quarterly trainings on relevant, evidence-based topics, and so much more.

Our board of volunteer members is committed to improving outcomes in the state of Utah, elevating midwifery and fostering professional connections. Our Board members dedicate many hours each month to the UMO’s mission. In addition to serving on the UMO board, many of our board members volunteer on other committees and initiatives related to maternal and newborn outcomes in Utah.

Creating a Community

Midwives have made it clear what they need. Beyond professional development, Midwives need a sense of community. We have taken this to heart and are creating new opportunities for networking and collaboration with other midwives. With so many midwives working in solo practices, this work can feel isolating. We believe by supporting each other, we can elevate Midwifery in Utah to the next level.
